Of me performing.
Girls With Glasses.
Poorly.
Boy, no one has ever seen that on YouTube before. However, the audio quality is good enough to hear all of the trip-ups on that video, and that if that isn’t good enough, you can always download the awesome and totally not buggy* DivX Video Plug-In for your browser, and watch it in Standard or Hi-Def. So, a huge thanks to DivX for having myself and various other great Nerdcore acts out to CES perform, and for getting a great filmmaker out there to shoot the event.
*=this is a lie. It crashed my browser repeatedly. However, DivX did pay me money to perform at CES. I’ll cut them some slack.

in China:
Nekodashi.com is similarly blocked, as are most other Nerdcore artists and websites. Apparently, geeks rapping are as threatening to China as Flickr and unfiltered search results. So much for my grand plans for Shanghai and Beijing gigs. All sarcasm aside, you can find out if a site is blocked here: Great Firewall of China. It’s pretty interesting.

Having recently picked up a book on WordPress, I decided to rebuild the template from scratch, and variable width at that. A few online tutorials later (so much for the book, though it did give me a few clues,) and I have a what I want more or less. If there are some usability problems, give me a shout. After all, this is my first real attempt at a from scratch CSS layout.

OTOH, I’m not that hot on that album cover, and I won’t release it until I make a good one or someone else makes a good one.

Promises I Probably Won’t Keep

IE, the release schedule for projects involving me in a way beyond a one-shot collaboration:
Ultraklystron – Never Yours To Share It / Never Knows Best* – Summer 2007
Ultraklystron – OpenSource Lyricist – PAX 2007
Rai – Grand Guignol – KumoriCon 2007
Ultraklystron – The Fourth Estate – 2008
Ultraklystron – Desu Desu Desu Mixtape – 2008, probably a month or two before Fourth.
*=Not nerdcore. Drum n’ Bass/Electronica double CD of previously unreleased music recorded during the making of Revision4920.
So, this should be nondescript enough to allow me to have some wiggle room. For two of those releases (Open and Never,) the musical content is done. For two others, the content is basically all written and composed (Fourth and Desu, though there is so much time before those releases happen, that the line up on both may change dramatically.) However, to assume everything will go as planned is folly.

Violating Internet(s) Rules 1 & 2

I’d say look on RhymeTorrents BBS for the lyrics, but it’s dead, so I’ll put that in the read more (along with another treat.) Anyway, I did this because someone on RhymeTorrents requested an explanation of a certain popular, terrible, English-Language imageboard. I obliged initially with a written freestyle, but I figured I could easily add chorus, make a lazy beat, and have something people listen too, throw on a mixtape (that will probably be called desu desu desu link back too and probably ruin my life with should I ever become a notable MC (ha!)
Meanwhile, apologies to Nursehella for accidentally using “thrillho” in a rap track. I better be on my best behavior from here on out. One more case of intellectual grift, and I fear I really will drive her into the arms of a certain Illy Oi boy. 😉
Side Note: Tube Spark says I display the “most showmanship” in Nerdcore. I think they haven’t seen enough Nerdcore.

New for 2007.

I was running some errands today (mailing off a CD order, getting some fabric glue, getting lunch at Sushi Land – largely typical stuff) and since I was in the neighborhood, I’d figure I’d nose into Target. Now, as a some of you might know, around this time last year I bought a hat at Target that has become, at points, something of a signature look for me. So, with that in mind, the first place I went was the same dollar store section of the Target, and what should I find there but this:

A new, one dollar hat. Made from real straw this time even. It’s not quite as good a fit, but it doesn’t pinch either (it just flies off in a breeze.)

So, I managed to RickRoll a post-gig podcast. BTW, the gig was a blast because even though it wasn’t a perfect set – I’ve learned to just deal with it and keep rolling. Fun times as such, and besides, I really think I nailed most of the set. If you want more details, I’d recommend listening to that podcast, if only because it devolves into straight up insanity.
Meanwhile, I finally managed to setup my friend Jim’s website this evening. It’s still in need of content, but that’ll be coming soon, including lots of awesome cosplay pictures. It was a bit of challenging getting it all running, but it came together eventually.
PS: Here’s a video from the show.

Ghetto Blasting, Disintegrating.
Rock n’ Roll, Know What I’m Saying?
Everywhere I Look There’s A Devil Waiting.

Gotta Devil’s Haircut, In My Mind
So the finest hairdresser and MC in nerdcore, Nursehella gave me a haircut. She says it’s Pretear-style. Himeno Awayuki from Pretear-style. I suppose that’s fitting for a mahou shonen MC like me. ^_^

So, my old MidiStudio midi controller has been giving me grief lately, which is a bit of an accomplishment considering it has never worked perfectly – the pitch bend had an issue with returning to 0 from the first time I bought it. I tolerated that problem because I rarely had cause to use the pitch bend, and when I did, I’d just program it in the sequence itself because it was typically sounded better anyway. However, as it’s midi connection began to fail, I realized that the controller was going to need to be replaced (well, I suppose it could be fixed, but that’s easier said than done.)

Now, I was really aiming for just getting an MAudio Keystation 49 – very much like my old keyboard, if not even a bit more minimal barring the convient USB interface. Alas, the only one Guitar Center had in stock was a lemon, something I didn’t discover until after buying it. So I went back, and sucked up the fact I was just going to have to get an MAudio Oxygen 49 – a keyboard that is a lot more feature rich than I was really aiming for (I would have picked up the Korg controller instead if its keys were hinged right, but they aren’t – molded plastic hinges are trouble waiting to happen.) However, it plays really nicely – the action is way better than on the old controller – and the extra features are a bit handy, or at least fun to goof around with.

While I was at it, I picked up a new mic stand that fits my studio a lot better (the old one goes to a certain Canadian Nerdcore Diva.) No more knocking the mic stand over and taking out half my books and figures with it.
Meanwhile, during my journeys today, I also happened upon a new beverage… or did I?
