On the note of doing too much in July

At San Diego Comic Con, I’m performing at Capcom’s booth on Thursday at 1:30pm. Also playing that day at the Capcom booth right after me will be lovely and talented Nursehella and the ever-so fresh and nerdy Beefy. At the same time on Friday, you can catch Comic Con fixture the Sucklord, nerd rap legends the Former Fat Boys and the original digital gangsta, YT Cracker. Oh, and sometime on Saturday at the Capcom booth, you can check out the Mega Man rap master, Random. Essentially, Capcom’s booth is nerdcore central.

So, basically I’ve not really been “home” for more than about 12 hours since late June, and I have to say, being back home after having done so much is bizarre, especially given that there were two very distinct segments of time spent in those past few weeks; I.E. I came home after being in Spokane for two weeks and then thought “oh right, yeah, I went to an anime con right before I left for Spokane.” I mean, I walked into my room last night (earlier this morning actually,) and I was almost disoriented for a second. I was like “oh, yeah, I bought that great Cardcaptor Sakura statuette, oh and those ADV boxsets – wait, I won an ADV boxset too! Dang, I have a lot of anime to watch.”

Of course, before the week’s over I’m back up to Canada, then back home, then out to San Diego. July’s just going to be a blur I guess.

102 Degree Burn Out Unlimited Over 9000

So, as the disjointed title suggests, I’m currently streaming hardcore drum n’ bass over borrowed wifi while fighting off the exhausting effects of a long and hot day running around the Spokenya (Spokane) area to acquire a reliable used box truck for the purpose of moving my grandfather’s belongings to the West Side of the Cascades so that his house can be sold, the proceeds from which when combined with the sale of my parent’s house will allow them to finally move into a place large enough to not only contain their hobbies properly, but even have their cars in a garage rather than next to the current house which is in fact garageless. Meanwhile, my grandpa will finally have all the stuff that previously didn’t make it into his suite at the retirement home.

However, enough of that drama and nonsense. Instead, let us rejoice, as you can finally here what everyone who caught the Waldo’s show has been waiting for: me covering an mc 500 times more talented than myself. Of course you can also hear such nerdcore luminaries such as the lovely and talented Nursehella and my protege/mecha-godzilla friend Rai brilliantly cover other artists over mediocre (wait, I mean awesome) backings created by your’s truly and mixed/mastered by that guy as well. Of course, if my production isn’t to your taste (in which case, why are you here?) you can always check out great covers by Beefy, Myf (feat. Kal & DJ Snyder), Shael Riley, YT Cracker and a host of other great Nerdcore MCs who I’m too exhausted to list right now.

Now, to work until Midnight, so I can get up at 6am, thus ensuring I can maybe snag a nap in the basement during the worst of the 103 degree weather tomorrow.

Qualified To Represent the LBC

Or atleast actually in the LBC, as I’m here for AX. I’m mooching some free wi-fi from the hotel I’m at (side note: boourns on said wi-fi only being free in the Lobby. That’s a lame move for a luxury chain like the Westin.) Of course, I’m on my lightweight but underpowered Linux laptop, but it’ll hold up for taking notes at panels (blantant plug: stick with ToonZone.net for all the latest AX coverage,) and for general internet usage.

Oh, and I think I set a new personal sleep-less record – I went from about noon on Wednesday to about 10pm Thursday. Alas, I didn’t think I was a hummingbird by the end of all that.

Hey, Actual Music.

The first Ultraklystron song for the Desu Desu Desu mixtape, namely Not Your Personal Rapper, rapped over a backing unintentionally provided by Jesse Dangerously as it’s the backing from “Outfox’d” from his album Interalia. He put it up as part of a “rate your cover of me”-thing, but I fail at reading directions and rapped some original lyrics (which are in the “…more” of this post) over the song instead.

Searching for Validation (Edit: Found.)

So, after some more messing around, I finally have my site working nicely and looking good (actually it’s better than it was on both accounts,) even on vaguely older browsers (like Internet Explorer 6.0.) However, the site doesn’t at all validate as well, proper anything – XHTML, HTML – you name it. Of course, neither did the old template, so I’m not that sour about things, but I have a feeling it’ll be easier said that done to get it to validate as at least XHTML 1.0 Transitional (though it’d be cool if it were truly XHTML 1.1 compliant.)

Oh well, time to turn the clock back to where I was a decade or so ago, building a website to promote my music and learning the proper code to do so as I went along. ^_^

Edit: Turns out I’m still sorta decent at web programming. The main page atleast is now vaild XHTML 1.0 Transitional with valid CSS.

Of me performing.
Girls With Glasses.
Poorly.

Boy, no one has ever seen that on YouTube before. However, the audio quality is good enough to hear all of the trip-ups on that video, and that if that isn’t good enough, you can always download the awesome and totally not buggy* DivX Video Plug-In for your browser, and watch it in Standard or Hi-Def. So, a huge thanks to DivX for having myself and various other great Nerdcore acts out to CES perform, and for getting a great filmmaker out there to shoot the event.

*=this is a lie. It crashed my browser repeatedly. However, DivX did pay me money to perform at CES. I’ll cut them some slack.

in China:

I'm blocked in China

Nekodashi.com is similarly blocked, as are most other Nerdcore artists and websites. Apparently, geeks rapping are as threatening to China as Flickr and unfiltered search results. So much for my grand plans for Shanghai and Beijing gigs. All sarcasm aside, you can find out if a site is blocked here: Great Firewall of China. It’s pretty interesting.

Remixed from Scratch.

Having recently picked up a book on WordPress, I decided to rebuild the template from scratch, and variable width at that. A few online tutorials later (so much for the book, though it did give me a few clues,) and I have a what I want more or less. If there are some usability problems, give me a shout. After all, this is my first real attempt at a from scratch CSS layout.
