Two Copies Left…

…of revision4920. I’m not reprinting it again, so get it while you can I guess.

Meanwhile, some music of mine was featured in the recent (as in with in the last month) episode of Nerdcore Rising’s Nerd of the Week segment. You can view that here: youtube. Coincidently, it is the episode about bloggers, so of course, I should blog about that. More surprisingly, it’s an older track of mine too, namely “bellevue” from Are We There Yet?, so that’s pretty cool. Of course, Karl Olson was misspelled, but that’s pretty much par for the course…

with nekodashi still down…

I’m left with myspace to upload content to. Thus, two new songs are up (unless you own the Romance Language reprint and Opensource Lyricist.) First off is “duplicate,” the song added to the Romance Langauge reprint, which is synth laden and song that bemoans the sameyness of the current music industry and the lack of real vision or movement at the moment. The other new track is “fashionable,” my ode to fashion that’s clearly from the perspective of an otaku whose main clues to fashion are clearly only Ai Yazawa, Clamp and other shoujo manga-ka, and it’s a song that also doubles as an absolutely over the top brag track as well.

In other news, anyone who likes my music would probably enjoy the debut EP from nerd music supergroup The Grammar Club. It’s intensely catchy and quite intelligent. Probably one of my favorite releases this year, not just from the nerd music scene, but in general.

Win/Fail #1: g0S/McMocha

Win: gOS. Definitely the most idiot proof and quick booting Linux I’ve played with, and it also looks quite good. Now more than ever, I wish their was Reason for Linux. I mean, Linux at least has drivers for my pro-grade sound card, unlike Vista.

Fail: McDonald’s Cafe Mocha. Too much chocolate (and the wrong kind of chocolate at that,) and not nearly enough coffee. Plus, the cost wasn’t particularly lower than the Starbucks down the street, so it’s not even a decent value buy. In fact, the Mochas from the nearby Costco are vastly superior, and they are only a buck.

Oh, and this:

So far it’s on schedule.

Upgrade/Update/Upload Time

Posted on November 7th, 2007

So, my wordpress is upgraded again. Woo.

Meanwhile, my finger was looking bad enough to the doctor today during a check up that I’m back on Keflex, but the stitches were taken out, and I was told to soak it in warm water, and as the doctor expected, the fingernail fell off after soaking it a few times. So, while I’m no longer mummifying the finger in bandages, I still have to take a lot of care, and better still, it turns out that I probably have another 4-8 weeks before the bone’s fully healed. I’m also very “aware” of the finger and injury again. Fun. I hope I don’t bang it into anything.

The upload time is in relation to the music stuff. Basically, the cover art’s stable for Opensource (and very different to the previous rough versions,) as is the track listing. Only question is whether I tag another bonus track to Romance Language. I’ve got a song I’d like to tack on, but I don’t want any one feeling like they got stiffed for buying the old release, so I’ll probably kick it up online in 320kbps mp3 too if do it. Anyway, with in the next week or two it should be completely finalized for real. All the little details are getting done now. If I’m proactive about it, I might even get the CDs in my hand for shipping before the end of this month.

Oh, and I applied to a university. Wish me luck.

Unusual

So, I’m on my lunch today, and seeing as I had a free soda coming to me via the monopoly promotion, I walked down to the nearest McDonalds. As I sit down and sink my teeth into a Grilled Chicken sandwich, a guy comes up and asks if I happened to be at the PS3 launch at the Best Buy in Bellevue, and of course I say yes. We end up having a conversation, and during it, I kind of felt for the first time since I took my break/acted like a over-dramatic emo-kid that maybe I still wanted to be a musician, atleast to some extent. Not that I’m at all hot to trot into the studio, or get back to doing shows for no money if not effectively paying to do shows after travel and hotel expenses. I just realize now that I need to get Opensource out sooner rather than later, and I should get the Romance Language reprint run done.

I mean, there may not be a lot of people waiting for those things to be done – maybe at best a few dozen people – but, I guess I’ve really made an impression on those folks, and in a case like today, it turns out I’ve even introduced some people to Nerdcore, and everytime I hear that it makes me really happy because it means I’ve had a positive effect on their life (well, I think it’s positive to get into a genre with MCs like MC Frontalot, mc chris, Beefy, Nursehella, ZeaLouS_1 and YT Cracker to name few.) I mean, there are still plenty of things I have to get straight in my life that still take a higher priority, but I think I won’t be turning my back on music even though I’ll have other stuff on my plate as I start getting other stuff underway. I just know I’ll never go back to playing shows that for audiences that don’t care, but as long as there is someone who will listen, I might as well as share what I do.

It’s like I’m happy just being me and doing things the way I want, and in the scale and pace I want. I don’t have to be an overstressed, over-scheduled person who can’t get anything done for anyone because it’s just too much going on. I’ll walk instead of sprint for now, and I’ll enjoy all the warmth and sunshine along the way. I hope people are happy to walk along with me, but they should do what they want to do too. 🙂

…new toys that consume power.

big 24 inch monitor

this is the danger of working in a computer shop, especially one that gets refurb monitors that work great for cheap.

PS: the finger is healing, slowly but surely.

See the previous post. Meanwhile, several stitches and a couple perscriptions later, and well, I guess things could be worse. Still, it’s going to be fun as stuff heals up. Fun in that not fun at all way.
