Or rather, a cover/remix/reimagining of one of my drum n’ bass tracks (specifically “Sea of Stars” from Never Yours To Share It) by the genius drum n’ bass duo Negative PH. It’s on their just-released new album, OVRMND which is for sale on their myspace. That myspace also has their version of the song, “SOS,” up streaming as well.

So, while I still have been too busy to get my podcast together for Toon Zone in regards to AkiCon, the other little project that came out of it, namely doing a remix of Random’s “Grow Up” in the Happy Hardcore style has come to fruition:
If you remember PLUR, you might want to give this a listen. Thanks to DJ Jimni Cricket for inspiring the mix, and to Random for being cool with said mix.

But the nerdcore super tour of MC Frontalot, MC Lars and YT Cracker hit a major snag when their trailer hit a patch of black ice in Wyoming and lost control. This not only nixed their Lincoln show, but may nix the tour without some fan support. If you’ve never bought anything from those artists before, and you enjoy their work, now would be a darn good time to show them some love and buy their merch and music, especially since without it, they may not be able to hit your town/city/area. Insurance helps, but fans help more.
(Thanks to Beefy for posting about it.)

But I’m here. Checked out various events, hung out in the dealer’s room a bit, helped a friend snag food for his artist alley friends, walked the single 100 foot hall way that every con room is strung along, interviewed some folks for a possible Toon Zone podcast and had dinner with MegaRan at Denny’s.
It’s super chill, and a welcome distraction. Definitely looking forward to MegaRan’s set. Finally get to catch him live.
Pic after the break.

In anticipation of moving for university, I recently did a head count on how many DVDs of unwatched content I have in my room. The anime alone came to about 170 discs. Add to that the various adult swim boxsets, an I’m looking that the fact that even if I watched a disc a day everyday until the backlog was done, it’d take over half a year to finish it.
I don’t think I’ll need cable TV when I go off to university this winter. I can always watch Colbert and Daily Show online instead.
PS: This is why I don’t keep up with fansubs as aggressively as I used to as well. Though… Shikabane Hime AKA on Hulu is really good.

So, my friend Derek and I ventured southward to catch a show by Nerdcore MC and friend, MC Gigahertz. He put a great show, though he was somehow, inspite of being the King of Absurdcore, out absurded by the next act, and the evening was closed out with the surprisingly awesome post-NewWave/Electro sounds of Love You Long Time.
Photos were taken, and appear after the break.

Good News: Hipster Please reviewed Opensource Lyricist. Fairly favorably too. I’ve been accepted to 8 schools (UVic and SFU have let me in.) I will have a song on RhymeTorrents 8. However, even all that good news isn’t enough to get me chipper…
Bad News: My grandfather had a stroke that screwed up his ability to swallow. Kind of offsets the good news by about ten-fold.

So, over the course of the past couple years now, I’ve probably crossed the US/Canada border atleast 20 or 30 times to visit my girlfriend, Danielle. Maybe even more. For most of that time, I’ve been unemployed and the Canadian border cops had absolutely no issue with that response. In fact, the majority of the time they just asked me who I was, where I was going and for how long, then waved me on through, and that was even before I’d gotten my passport.
Last night however, I was driving Danielle back up to Canada as I’ve done repeatedly before, and we get flagged in, have to wait a freakin’ hour at immigration, and I’m told I’m suddenly a risk to let in because I might not leave, and that the previous times I’d made the exact same journey didn’t count for anything. This fact is made extra ridiculous as earlier this year, I was still unemployed, I flew in on a ONE-WAY TICKET to Montreal, and no one said a single word about this being a problem. Eventually, after tearing through the contents of my car, they let me in. However, they only let me in for 24 hours, at which point I’d better have gotten back over the border or else they’d PUT A WARRANT OUT FOR MY ARREST. Further still, they’ve flagged my passport number so that the next time I drive up to visit my girlfriend, I’d better bring proof that I have “ties to the US that show that I’d return,” like mail that has come to the address on my driver’s license. So much for “as long you have your passport, it’s still easy to visit between countries.” Apparently you better present your papers and a bank statement or a bill or something if you’re unemployed.
Look, I know the US Economy’s taken a nose dive, so maybe they’re are some jerks who are going to try to sneak into the land of relative opportunity, but when someone has entered and left your country dozens of time in past year, it’s a pretty safe bet that when they say they’re going back home that evening, THEY’RE GOING HOME THAT EVENING.
