Romance Language 3, Upcoming Redesign & Other News

Download Ultraklystron – Romance Language 3 From Bandcamp.

In other news, I will be redesigning this site after about a decade of keeping it pretty similar. I’m not sure what all I’ll keep and cut. I’m terrible about minding this blog, so I might just throw it into archive mode, or at least defocus it in favor of the social media sites I (begrudgingly yet regularly) update. I might also better integrate the various online listening and purchase options for my albums into an actual, single structure as part of this, but that’s maybe a phase two of any redesign. On a basic level though, I want something with a more modern, more-standards complaint design. I might even set it up to handle mobile without a plug-in, but only if my implementation is better than the plug in.

Still, the redesign is a key to-do since I’m not going to be doing physical releases again any time soon. I’m going to pivot towards focusing on online releases via the new subscription option on bandcamp, and I’m taking on more paid production work for other artists. (If you’re interested that, get at me via one of the options on the contact page.) As such, I want to have a page that’s actually worth visiting since my online presence will probably be my only presence for the foreseeable future.

Anyways, cop that new album, and tell me what you think of it.

Unwarranted Self Importance

This isn’t April Fools’ Day nonsense. Or if it is, all you have to do is press play above or here and spoil it in the comments. Anyways, pay what you want. I assume that’ll be 0 though.

Bitcoin Accepted Here, Apparently.

So I have added BitCoin payment via CoinBase to the web store. It’s rough looking as ever – I really should redo it with div and css, for now, I’m ready to take BTC (though I’m keeping the prices in USD since that’s what I payed for the material in.) I’ll admit I was a skeptic, and I still am a little, but sites like CoinBase seem to provide a reasonable means of giving it a shot, and it’s not like PayPal has been a bastion of honest dealings anyway.

To celebrate the occasion, let’s repost this remix, again:

Still Breaking Beats

Besides all of the instrumentals I’ve actually I’d finished and even in some cases circulated to collaborators only to have them choose only handful from what was offered, I also have a number of songs that were done or close to done that I’d never even rendered out because they were little one off ideas while I was in the middle of other projects. However, a little digging let put together the above Drum n’ Bass EP. It’s pay what you want (including free,) so long as you have time download it, you might as well 😀

Regarding those other unreleased instrumentals, I’m going to consider putting those together into a release as well.

Oh, and here’s the YouTube version of the EP:

Legacy Content

All of my back catalog that wasn’t posted to my main YouTube channel is now online here. I decided to split that material off from my main channel as I no longer know which albums these belonged to (well, I didn’t want to dig through CDs at my parents’ place to work it out,) and because most of it is fairly mediocre. Of course, I was only a teenager when I wrote most of it, and there are few decent gems hiding in with the junk there, but there it wasn’t worth binning the content beyond maybe a few YouTube playlists I’ll put together later. Besides, I figured since I could upload it easily thanks to a couple of nifty open source python scripts I tweaked and knitted together (I will post my code online once I clean it up a little,) I might as well do so.

Having posted those songs up, that pretty much only leaves mash-ups, remixes for other artists and mixtapes as the only material I haven’t uploaded to YouTube. I don’t see my self bothering with uploading them at the moment. I now have over 500 songs on YouTube on those two accounts alone, and I figure that’s good enough for the moment.

Otherwise, the main thing going on with me is that I’ve graduated university, and I’m looking for work. I’m doing a lot of programming tests at the moment, and though I’m feeling a little fatigued, I’m pretty sure that’s just anxiety regarding these opportunities. Hopefully, I’ll have something lined up soon enough.

EDIT:

Behold, the best of my worst. I guess that’s supreme mediocrity. 😀

From Marcy to Medical Mechanica

May’s Music Release: FLJZ (Jay-Z x The Pillows) produced by Ultraklystron

YouTube:

Download: Mediafire.

Originally this was a collab with Esselfortium, but this was at least 8 years ago when he was first getting his production skills up, so upon his recommendation, I’m only putting my tracks from the EP up. Still, I think holds up oddly well, even though I think I’ve pulled my skills up myself.

In case it’s not obvious, all of instrumental samples were pulled from J-Rock band The Pillows, specifically from their contributions to the FLCL soundtrack. The vocals are Jay-Z’s, specifically often remixed Black Album.

A Boatload Of New Music

April’s Free Release:
Ultraklystron – Music For Tablets (Mediafire)

Oh, and this was finally finished as well:

Meanwhile, I’ve just wrapped my finals up. I have countless resumes to send out at the moment (and a lot of leads to follow up on now that I have the time,) but there is still tons of music in my archives for me to finally group together and release, so I should be able to keep up with my goal of a EP or more per month.

Enigma Decoded – This Month’s Instrumental EP

Enigma Decoded: A Katawa Shoujo Remix EP

So, I found these tracks hiding in the depths of my hard drive around about the time the game had it’s one year anniversary, and so I figured I should gather them up, give a quick once over before release, and put them out the world. I was going to hold off even longer as the text file in the download would note, but I’ve realized I have so many instrumentals in my back-catalog that I can put out an EP like this a month.

I think I might.

A Forgotten Trillbit Chiptrap Nightmare Rediscovered

Posted on January 23rd, 2013

I do tend to write so much stuff that unless I make a point to render it out of Reason and stick in a playlist for future release, I will forget that I had it done. One such example is my latest little freebie EP release, Trillicon Chip:

Basically, I’d written a bunch Chiptunes meets Trap with Dubstep wobble back in 2010 while taking the ferry over to Victoria to visit Nursehella while she was finishing her university degree. Since it was never really intended as anything other instrumental music, I probably banked the five tracks I’d hashed out, figuring I’d eventually get back to them as part of a bigger electronic release. However, it’s hit me that for a lot of what I’m writing, it makes no sense to hang on to it while I write more material, and so when I find something like these tracks in my archives, I don’t see the point in hanging on to them any more. Might as well put them out for the world to enjoy.

In fact, I think I want to stick to regular EPs in future, at least for my instrumental stuff. Check back in regularly through out the year, because this is just the tip of the stuff that I’ve been holding back.

Someone dug up a remix I’d even forgotten about making, and a cut nice slideshow to the song. It’s a remix of a song from the Katawa Shoujo OST, and I have to say, it got me thinking that if I do Trap/Moomba/EDM concept EP after I finish the other projects on my plate, I should probably wrap my long standing idea of a Katawa Shoujo Remix/Concept EP into it.

I don’t think I want to do more than an EP’s worth of original material at the moment anyway. Yeah, I have tons of tracks in the back catalog that might be wrapped into a different release, but I think those should be held on to for later for now. I mean, I could easily drop a two or three LP-length beat tapes tomorrow if I wanted to, plus an electronic album. The songs just need titles. However, I figure I should be responsible though first, and see if I can get MCs/vocalists on them first (or maybe even take a crack at vocals myself,) so doing a focused concept EP of fresh material seem like the best next step once I get other projects put to bed. I also think I should try to work more conceptually, at least sometimes.
