Video of Nerdcore Renagade Show @ PS3 Best Buy Line

It’s hard to rap when it’s cold, but I still sold CDs. It contains 4 songs – 2 off revision, 2 off Opensource, some between set banter and some working out mix issues while rapping. At least the crowd dug it by the time all was said and done, not only buying CDs as mentioned before, but so much so they even asked me to autograph their CDs without prompting from me and they brought me two water bottles too so I could keep rapping. As such, I had fun too. Hopefully the fellow shooting the documentary about waiting in line for a PS3 will have some footage up eventually as well, because that’d be awesome.

second half of the headline: 9pm Toys’R’Us, nerdcore show. might be fun.

Because I’ve decided to hold off on Opensource until the Tycho collab comes together or January 2007 (which ever comes first,) I’ve decided to cut an EP/Album that’ll feature 8 songs geared around a central theme (namely the various facets of nerd love) and 8 songs that were at one point intended to be featured on Opensource but ultimately ended up not fitting due to space constraints, but are still pretty good nonetheless. Basically, a 16 song effort at a minumum (I might add a few hard-to-define odds and ends and/or cut some additional remixes,) and it should be out within the month if all goes well. It will be called one of the two names in the title, and it will also feature my collaboration with Nursehella. A page now exists for it here:

Good: The rhymetorrents halloween album is now available for download.
Better: It was slashdotted.
Wait n/m: Slashdot on average apparently doesn’t much like nerdcore.
Oh, well here’s a direct download link to my contribution. It’s about bad horror movies, and it features gratuitous references to Tsukuyomi MoonPhase. Also, I make light of the works of Uwe Boll.

(Well, unless you’re Feather or Nursehella, in which case, this is old news, because you’ve already heard everything I have done for Opensource. Well, barring one track I just can’t seem to get a good mix for.)
The new version of “Eighty Three,” now with improved announciation and a great vocal hook added by my friend Zoe, is now up, as is “It’s The Beat,” a song about eating a french fry in Starbucks, if it’s about anything at all. Why now? Because I figure they’re as good they are gonna get, and I have certain persons requesting that certain of these tracks turn up for download because they can’t wait for the album to go up.
However, I think OpenSource as a whole is effectively done outside of that one track I referenced earlier. It’s pretty likely that I’m pushing the Tycho collab back because while it’s going to be great, it’s not going to wrapped anytime soon, and the Nurse Hella collab will probably make more sense on her CD (though it’s going to be great too, make no mistake about that,) so that leaves OpenSource pretty much done. I’m not sure whether people can or even should have to deal with almost 80 minutes of pretty much just me, but that’s probably how it’s going to work for better or worse.
And, yeah, those tracks above are 128kbps-licious, but nice new 320kbps trackage from me will be on the RhymeTorrents Halloween LP when it comes out. In my song for that comp, I make fun of Uwe Boll, and I make a Harry Potter reference in the first line of the chorus, so I figure I’ve it should appeal vaguely to my constituency. I’ve also hedged my bets by referencing a show I recently reviewed that happened to be very fitting for Halloween too.
So, yeah, expect OpenSource Lyricist news somewhere in here soon. Maybe even a release date.

I am extremely verbose. Pleonastic even. Still, thank you Z from Hipster, Please for interviewing me.
Meanwhile, I’m in Kirkland (ear infection == not staying in Spokane this week.) If you have anything you need to get a hold of me for, now would be a great time at I’m almost definitely available. Things like recording vocals, or giving me my laptop, or generally even hangin out can be done. š

More Podcast Fun

As in, another podcast interviewed me, namely Solipsistic Nation, an excellent podcast featuring some great music and great interviews. I’m pretty boring, but MC Frontalot puts forth the most poetic description of nerdcore I’ve seen, while the rest of the artists featured also put forth some great thoughts and decribe their interesting and colorful histories. If you like nerdcore, you’ll like this podcast episode. Besides, it has MC Frontalot, YTCracker, Beefy, High-C, Funky49 and Ham-STAR on it too, so it even has nerdcore rappers that have recieved more mainstream media attention than yours truly here.
Meanwhile, the album that will follow Opensource Lyricist is full. I think I might just try to record the vocals for all 18 tracks (2 songs are being moved Opensource to the next CD, and 2 will be orphaned as they will appear on neither album, though I’ll be sure to kick them out on a compilation or as a-series-of-tubes exclusive songs,) in the next couple weeks. I’ll just machine gun threw it and be done with it. I had this period of binge-writing during this summer inspite of being out of town (actually, in part because I was out of town,) and I wrote about 8 songs in the past month, but I think that’ll be that for a little while at the very least. I need to live some more life before writing lyrics again.

As this audio sleep aid causes drowsiness.
Meanwhile, I need to snipe a bid on a laptop monitor cable. Easier said than done. I have a sneaking suspicion even with Ebay’s lower prices, I will be paying more than the cost of the laptop it repairs for the cable. Ah well. Later today, it’s Fiasco time š

Adverse Meditations On Drum nā Bass

Two things.
1. Google Ads are fun. Amusing to see Lupe Fiasco ads in my sidebar (something those reading via LJ don’t see I suppose.) Oh yeah, everyone who wants to hear a wonderful hiphop CD should buy his CD when it hits on Tuesday. I know probably will should I have funds available. I mean, he raps about giant robots and Lupin the Third, and very excellently at that.
2. My most recent drum n’ bass CD, the violent yet eloquent Haven is now remastered, and available for download in 320kbps mp3, lossless ogg vorbis and just so that no one decides to call me George Lucas for being an audio revisionist the original ogg vorbis release is up too. It’s split into 3 different zip files (one for each format/version,) so you can just download the whole album in a shot with m3u playlist included too. It’s probably the best drum n’ bass CD I’ve done, and it’s certainly the one I’m happiest with at this point, so get it while it’s lukewarm.
