So, did a show last night, and though I’d say my DDR score for my whole performance was probably a C+, there were certain songs I managed to AAA/S on, and my freestyle, though probably too confrontational, was atleast a B. The other artists did great sets, especially Nursehella and Beefy who never missed a step, and Mr. Door, Tanuki and TG punched in with some great work too. The after-party/breakfast/podcast recording at Denny’s was great too, so basically, it was a solid evening.
Meanwhile, I ended up getting booked for a show on the 14th of February at the Columbia City Theatre (an all-ages venue,) where Romance Language will be officially released and properly debuted, and I have another gig at the same venue on March 15th (which IIRC replaces the gig that was going to be at Fuel on the 9th.) The line up for both gigs have yet to be fully solidified, but I’ll be sure to post about stuff once it’s known.
Thanks again to all the artists and to NWNerdcore for putting together an awesome show. I look forward to doing more work in the future, and I promise to be more rehearsed and on point.
PS: While waiting for the album, here is some rough footage of a track I performed at the CES after-party in The Bloghaus:

It’s pretty silly, but it’s a great performance IMHO:
Hopefully, this is just the first of the various performances I did that get kicked up online by various people/filmmakers/etc. Thanks to Dan from Nerdcore For Life for posting that up, and thanks to Nursehella for rocking the stage.

Verses I Totally Bailed: 1.
Songs Rocked With Better than 90% Awesomeness: 3
Nerdcore Beefs Solved By Ultraklystron: 1 (though only because Monzy and MC Plus+ asked me to before their set.)
Overall Awesomeness Score: 100000% (Because inspite of my blown verse, everyone else delivered a glorious set.)
PS: Seriously guys, go to DivX’s Stage 6 so you can see the footage soon.

In as much as I’m actually posting from DivX’s booth, where I’m about to perform, literally. It’s pretty much awesome here, though Vegas is a pretty surreal place. Thankfully, I’m here with a bunch of great friends (and my girlfriend,) so it’s been pretty cool so far.
I’ll blog again after my set, which is in about 3-5 minutes now.
PS: Check DivX Stage 6 for plenty of video of everything that went down. Well, everything they were filming.

Gig Updates

Final flyer for the Vegas shows (CES and Beauty Bar) is up here. Meanwhile, it looks like the details have filled in for my new show at Fuel, namely the line up and price. I’d say 8 dollars is pretty good deal for a night of great Nerdcore.

My younger fans might want to skip this one…

Ultraklystron feat. Nursehella & Baddd Spellah – Shoujo n’ Shonen – lyrics
Yeah, it’s a little sexually charged relative to, well, anything else I’ve ever done, so those of you out there who don’t want to hear myself and Nursehella talk about which anime characters we think are attractive, even though it’s a very playful and silly song, should just skip this. Those hoping for a return to songs with out any romantic content can take solace in the fact that there are plenty of bonus songs on Romance Language, and that Opensource Lyricist is very devoid of romance. Both releases are still filled with comedy, emo and straight-up nerdcore playa spirit (whatever that is,) and both are basically a few vocal re-records away from completion, so hopefully early 2007 will be a good time for Ultaklystron fans with songs for everyone (well, as long as they are nerds.)
Oh, and speaking of stuff my younger fans can’t enjoy, looks like I have another gig lined up at Fuel, and it’s sooner than my previous gig (January 19th.) I really hope I can do some all-ages stuff in the future though, cause I know I have a lot of fans that are under 21. For the moment though, I guess have to take the work I can get.

I am taking this quote entirely out of context to mention that yet again, Boing Boing is showing love to Nerdcore, very specifically, the upcoming gigs in Vegas. Maybe this will never get mainstream ink, but if it keeps getting Nerd press, that maybe all it needs.

It might have something to with Boing Boing linking the nerdcore documentary trailer. Hurrah for horrible puns and free publicity!

We ain’t goin’ nowhere. We cannot be stopped ’cause we are Nerdcore For Life:
So yeah, the Nerdcore For Life trailer is out. Look out for me doing all the nerdy things you’d expect me to do be doing, and note that even some of my friends made the trailer (and not just nerdcore friends, like friends from Anime Kingdom friends.)

Normally stuff like getting towed because I parked in an area you apparently can’t park at between certain hours would leave me dismayed and panicked. However, with my girlfriend, it was OK. I knew I’d get through it without much in the way of a hassle because she’s smart, cool and collected in these kind of situations (well, she’s always smart, cool and collected.) Heck, because we’d parked there, we had a fun time singing MC Frontalot’s “Crime Spree” in public, (not because we noticed the parking rules, but because we were worried about feeding the meter ironically enough,) and while we waited for one of her friends to pick us up and drive us to the impound lot, we goofed around with her cellphone camera at bus stop. Besides, the place we were parking for was this awesome mall loaded with great Asian stores, including multiple anime shops and great import fashion stores. For a day that could have been miserable, it rocked instead.
In less sappy news, I’m back in Seattle, and I’m going to be putting the final touches on my CD within the week, hopefully.
