Time to write another lament

So, a staple of the past 4 years of my life, Shojo Beat Magazine, is dead as of the upcoming July issue. Shojo Beat got me through some emotionally difficult times; it was also a monthly highlight that was a delight to pick up; it was a constant that I could buy and enjoy whether I was in Minnesota or California or British Columbia; and perhaps most importantly introduced me to some manga series I’d never have looked into independently. On that note, I never once skipped an issue. I’ve got the whole library in my room, and I’m happy to have it.
So long Shojo Beat Magazine. I’m going to miss it.

that’s sad news, I learned about a lot of great manga through it also, like Nana and GodChild. Time to hunt down individual series.

It looks like they’re offering Shonen Jump issues for the rest of any existing subscriptions, but… it’s just not the same! And what will become of my beloved Sand Chronicles? ;-;

I’m not surprised, after Newtype USA stopped I knew Shojo Beat wouldn’t be far behind. Still sad to see.
