So, I’m on my lunch today, and seeing as I had a free soda coming to me via the monopoly promotion, I walked down to the nearest McDonalds. As I sit down and sink my teeth into a Grilled Chicken sandwich, a guy comes up and asks if I happened to be at the PS3 launch at the Best Buy in Bellevue, and of course I say yes. We end up having a conversation, and during it, I kind of felt for the first time since I took my break/acted like a over-dramatic emo-kid that maybe I still wanted to be a musician, atleast to some extent. Not that I’m at all hot to trot into the studio, or get back to doing shows for no money if not effectively paying to do shows after travel and hotel expenses. I just realize now that I need to get Opensource out sooner rather than later, and I should get the Romance Language reprint run done.

I mean, there may not be a lot of people waiting for those things to be done – maybe at best a few dozen people – but, I guess I’ve really made an impression on those folks, and in a case like today, it turns out I’ve even introduced some people to Nerdcore, and everytime I hear that it makes me really happy because it means I’ve had a positive effect on their life (well, I think it’s positive to get into a genre with MCs like MC Frontalot, mc chris, Beefy, Nursehella, ZeaLouS_1 and YT Cracker to name few.) I mean, there are still plenty of things I have to get straight in my life that still take a higher priority, but I think I won’t be turning my back on music even though I’ll have other stuff on my plate as I start getting other stuff underway. I just know I’ll never go back to playing shows that for audiences that don’t care, but as long as there is someone who will listen, I might as well as share what I do.

It’s like I’m happy just being me and doing things the way I want, and in the scale and pace I want. I don’t have to be an overstressed, over-scheduled person who can’t get anything done for anyone because it’s just too much going on. I’ll walk instead of sprint for now, and I’ll enjoy all the warmth and sunshine along the way. I hope people are happy to walk along with me, but they should do what they want to do too. 🙂

…new toys that consume power.

big 24 inch monitor

this is the danger of working in a computer shop, especially one that gets refurb monitors that work great for cheap.

PS: the finger is healing, slowly but surely.

See the previous post. Meanwhile, several stitches and a couple perscriptions later, and well, I guess things could be worse. Still, it’s going to be fun as stuff heals up. Fun in that not fun at all way.

If wasn’t for bad luck…

It’s amazing how quickly everything can go wrong.

One moment, you’re in middle of a lovely day out on the town with your girlfriend – the first real break you’ve had since you’ve started working at your new job, next you’ve smashed your finger in the excessively spring-loaded and heavy bathroom door in the Japanese restaurant you’re eating at, paramedics checking to make sure you don’t pass out from shock/pain. Of course, insult is always added to injury – my girlfriend accidentally lost her awesome leather coat too. Oh, and the injury stopped me from taking my girlfriend back to Canada.

Why for? Well, it still hurts insanely bad, and I still probably have to go a doctor tomorrow; my finger is badly bruised, the nail bed is mostly ripped out, and the fingerprint area is partially ripped up and may need stitches. Shoot, for all I know, it might even be fractured or something. I guess we’ll see tomorrow.

PS: Did I mention my insurance hasn’t kicked in yet?

Brand New Old Music & Employment

You know, I thought it was kind of cool (or atleast very smart alek of me) to put out a double CD of “fresh” material while taking a sabbatical from active music production, but somehow I think this might even be cooler still. Namely, a pair of my old friends in the electronic music community, a duo by the name Negative pH, have released a cover of “Sea of Stars” from previously mention double CD. It’s an outstanding cover – leagues better than anything I’ve ever released – but don’t take my word for it. Check it out on their myspace, and click on the song titled “SOS.”

In other news, I am gainfully employed in a retail job again. At least it’s at a computer store this time, and I’m getting paid, as Chamillionaire would say “Mo Scrilla” than I was at Target. It’s also in a strip mall that has an awesome Chinese restaurant in it too, which is always welcome. The teriyaki joint in the same mall is pretty mediocre however.
